ATLANTA (Dec. 11, 2009) –  Ten high school seniors, including two headed to play college basketball next season at North Carolina, headline the Naismith Trophy Boy’s High School Player of the Year watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.

Atlanta Tipoff Club Names 2010 Preseason All-Metro Team

ATLANTA (Nov. 19, 2009) – The Atlanta Tipoff Club today announced the 60 student-athletes who make up the preseason All-Metro team.  The candidates were chosen through a vote by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s board of selectors, comprised of leading basketball coaches and administrators from around the region, who based their criteria on player performances during the 2008-09 basketball season and expectations for the upcoming year.

Moore Starts Defense of Naismith Trophy
By Headlining Preseason Watch List

ATLANTA (Nov. 18, 2009) – Connecticut’s Maya Moore seeks to become the first player ever to win two Naismith trophies in high school and college, and the junior forward headlines the 2009-10 preseason watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.  Moore won the Naismith National High School Girl’s Player of the Year award in both 2006 and 2007 at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga., and claimed the college award this past March.  She is joined on the list by teammates Tina Charles and Tiffany Hayes.

Naismith Trophy 2009-10 Preseason Watch

List Dominant With Upperclassmen

ATLANTA (Oct. 29, 2009) – The Big XII Conference has claimed two of the last three Naismith Trophies for Men’s College Player of the Year, and has done so with a sophomore (Blake Griffin, Oklahoma, 2009) and a freshman (Kevin Durant, Texas, 2007).  The tide may turn in 2010 as upperclassman claim 33 of the 50 spots in the Naismith 2009-10 preseason watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.  Seniors (19) and juniors (14) lead the way followed by 13 sophomores and four freshmen.
